‘Who touched Me?’
The woman was afraid but admitted it was she who touched Jesus.
The question sent His disciples into wonderment as they reasoned how
ridiculous the question was in light of the throngs of people who pressed in
upon Jesus as He walked through them. It seemed like they were oblivious
and had forgotten who it was who walked with them, but this woman knew more
than they did.
With this touch, this woman entered into the realm where the power of God
dwelt and plugged herself into the presence of the Living God, I AM. She
had nothing more to lose for all the suffering she had endured. She was unclean
and took this bold step of the unthinkable to touch the Master. She looked not
at all the reasons why she should not do this but rather looked at one thing
and that was Jesus.
In the moment when she reached for Jesus’s garment, she tapped into the
power of the living God in all its endless supply and Jesus immediately felt
this surge go out from Him. The masses of people faded out, and this moment was
about Jesus and one woman. God and faith merge and all heaven opens.
We too can touch Jesus like this woman did.
All this woman had to give to Jesus was complete faith in Him.
Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years and
had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had
and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she
came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For
she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt
in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And
Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him,
turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You,
and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the
woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and
fell before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to
her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and
be healed of your affliction.”
