Saul asked this question when he was confronted by Jesus; ‘Who are You Lord?’ Acts 9.

Are we asking this question?  Do we really want to know the answer?   As we see through the life of Saul, who became Paul – the apostle, such knowledge brings great responsibility, much joy and not a little pain. 

How many of us’ sign on’ merely for the benefits that the free and costly gift Jesus Christ extends us?  We do so because Jesus Christ is marketed in Christendom to make it a gospel (good news) where it is about us – after all ‘God so loved us’ – right? It’s about how much I get and all I have to do is believe! That is a satanic gospel for it is about men and not God at all; Matt 16:23.  

In that split second in a flash, Saul saw himself – before God; he saw his need (to be saved) and his sin and error.  Interestingly he did not see all the benefits of salvation at all.  In fact, the Lord revealed how much Paul would have to suffer for His name’s sake, Acts 9:13-16.  

Like Paul, it is the moment we stop – and ask, ‘who are you Lord?’ will we begin our journey of discovery and intimate fellowship with the Living God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  It is a journey that involves much suffering and self-sacrifice but is worth it and only happens when we are willing to see it is not about us but about Him in us – the hope of glory!

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Col 1:27.
