I would like to share with you an experience that I recently had that may be helpful and encouraging.  For many years I have suffered from what is known as restless leg syndrome.  In this last year, it has been a nightly occurrence.  Restless leg syndrome, in my case, presented as an aggravating tickling sensation deep in my legs.  It would vary which leg and it could be my upper or lower.  I have tried to treat this condition with creams, supplements, and nutrition.  My last resort was to join a forum, hoping I would find some kind of resolution.  Reading people’s stories and daily posts opened my eyes to see how terrible this condition was for others.  Medication seemed to be the answer for this group; ironically, through reading the posts, it does not take this condition away without adding many other issues and/or only serves to put you in a stupor of some sort.  Expressions of depression were common, and even suicide and insanity!  I quickly learned this was not where I would find any kind of resolve. 

In pondering restless leg, I always wondered why it only showed up at night, as I never suffered with it during the day, so it got me thinking and led me to ask this question to the Lord. I asked the Lord if he would take it away for three nights if restless leg came by any sort of demonic influence. For three nights, I had the best sleep I had in a very long time. On the fourth night, however, it was like I was met with restless leg on steroids! At that moment, I realized what I was contending with and began dealing with it on a spiritual level. I would rebuke it in Jesus’s name; sometimes it would go, and other times it would not. It wasn’t until I used a different approach that I found relief. Whenever I would feel its presence, I immediately began to worship the Lord, magnifying His name in praise and thanksgiving. To my amazement, it would instantly vanish! It would also come back. So the Lord revealed to me my need to forgive someone for deeply hurting me. When I did this, I have not suffered with RL since. It was like the door was closed from this cruel and tormenting nightly visitor through forgiveness, amazing!

I would like to make myself clear, not every sickness or ailment we experience is caused by dark spirits. The take away from me sharing this with you is that if you suffer from something ask the Lord about it. Perhaps He has something to tell you. In this experience I learned first hand the power of praise and thanksgiving has in worshiping our Lord and the power of forgiveness He has given us through His death on the cross and His resurrection. I have concluded that to forgive others really is for our own benefit!
