Living by Faith: Navigating between Flesh and Spirit

We walk in the truth and the Law of Christ. As a result, we abide in Christ and walk in the Kingdom of God.  In the kingdom of God, we follow the rules and regulations of this kingdom.  Only one thing prevents us from abiding in the Kingdom of God and these questions will determine what is true.  Are we operating from pride, our lusts, fear, and/or unbelief – in other words from our flesh?  Because when we operate out of these, we cannot also be a citizen of the kingdom of God. See Romans 8. To be a citizen of the Kingdom of God, we must operate from a newly created life. We live this life by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit of God.  We will live either in our flesh or in faith, we cannot live in both at the same time.  When we live in our flesh and according to this world, we focus on the things of men. We do not focus on God.  Confusion comes when we live good, moral, and even godly lives – in our flesh.  This happens more often than we realize and is a snare that has many of us bound.

When we live according to the Kingdom of God, our works will not consume us. We will focus on what we should do, not what we should avoid.  Our life is simple, so even a child can partake.  We love the Lord with all our hearts. We walk in His Son by faith in who He is and what He has told us and continues to teach us by His Spirit. This is called obedience to the Word.

It is not faith alone, nor is it faith without works is dead.  The kingdom of God is both and much more than these doctrinal stances many have built mountains.  One path will lead us into futility. It will bear no spiritual fruit. The other path helps us grow into the likeness of the one who bought us through His blood.

This is the truth, today.  Many of us don’t investigate from where we reside, we only presume based on how we feel about our faith.  We feel good about Jesus. We love Him and say we believe Him. In that, we say we are of the Kingdom of God.  Does this make it true? The broad way that leads to destruction is one paved with good intentions.

We must understand what we believe in. Do we believe by our flesh and natural man, or do we believe in faith by the Spirit of God? If we are not producing spiritual fruits, we will not know what rest and peace are. In this case, no matter what we face in life, we are believing using our flesh and natural man.

We are witnessing people and ministries who preach Jesus Christ being exposed in record numbers. This only reveals how they live Christianity in the flesh and carnal man. Let their humiliation only serve to prompt us to be vigilant in our own walks. Taking care we are firmly rooted in the Kingdom of God and not in this world or our flesh.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:15-16
